Edited by: J'Maybe Keens on 08/10/2004 20:39:25 I would appreciate someone telling me exactly how BIG are making piles of isk out of this venture.
I can see how those that bought the BIG DEAL shares have but not BIG itself.
Some basic analysis of the BIG DEAL is now on Eve Guardian for anyone that wishes to read it.
And no it is not definitive, consider it a discussion document. ******** AUTHOR of the COMPLETE mineral and ore Price guide, updated weekly, see Eve Guardian for details

Edited by: J'Maybe Keens on 08/10/2004 22:59:39 Indeed Jiggs, the idea that BIG never intended to make a profit was in fact a misreading on my part of the original thread (my bad and I am off to correct it).
Thanks for pointing this error of mine out.
The quote now reads:
Quote: BIG primary objective was not to make a profit from this scheme so that is not the primary concern when considering the future of the deal for them, but if in its current state it starts costing ever greater amounts of isk to maintain the scheme you would presume there to be a point at which changes would have to be implemented.
Hopefully that better represents the reality of the scheme.
There was a profit motive to this and it was the 11th share and you will notice I made that fact very clear early on in the piece (and the fact the 11th share saved the day when there was the lab slot bug that chucked everything out).
The fact there is also a cash flow benefit to them that has grown substantially because of falling BPC prices is something that has not often been noted before however. ******** AUTHOR of the COMPLETE mineral and ore Price guide, updated weekly, see Eve Guardian for details

Those that have read my article will come away with the idea that the BIG DEAL is not as good for people today as it was 12 months ago.
This pretty much is a fact and it is because of falling BPc prices.
The BIG DEAL itself will have contributed to this.
I also point out if you actually wish to buy a Battleship BPO, the BIG DEAL is ideal.
To quote myself (a nasty habit I know)
Quote: where the BIG DEAL still wins is as a scheme for an individual to be able to buy the BPO outright by simply purchasing shares till they own the whole 10. Once the individual has bought all 10 shares of the BPO, it becomes theirs, effectively all the BPC they have received from it were "free".
I shall be doing a small follow up piece on the BIG article in EG which will deal more thorougly with this area. I did not do it within the original article for the simple reason there was enough going on in it and it was not the focus of the piece in the first place. ******** AUTHOR of the COMPLETE mineral and ore Price guide, updated weekly, see Eve Guardian for details
